Strike the Blood III’s Promo Video Reveals OVA Will Have 5 Home Video Releases


The official website for the Strike the Blood anime franchise began streaming a promotional video on Sunday for Strike The Blood III, the third Strike the Blood original video anime (OVA) season. The video description reveals that the new season will have five home video releases.

The home video releases will ship on December 19, March 27, May 29, July 24, and September 25. The season will cover up to volume 17 of Gakuto Mikumo‘s original light novel series, as well as the end of the “Holy War” (Seisen) arc.

The official website also revealed more cast members:

The site additionally revealed more staff and the theme song artists. Kishida Kyōdan & The Akeboshi Rockets will perform the opening theme song “Blood and Emotions” and Risa Taneda will perform the ending theme song “Love Stoic.”

The anime’s previously revealed cast includes:

Hideyo Yamamoto is returning to direct at CONNECTHiroyuki Yoshino is again supervising and writing the series scripts, and Keiichi Sano is returning to design the characters. Jin Aketagawa is directing the sound at Magic CapsuleAssumed Sounds is composing the music.

The school action fantasy story of Strike the Blood begins with Kojō Akatsuki, a boy deemed the “fourth progenitor” — the world’s most powerful vampire once thought to only exist in legend and lore. In the Itogamijima special zone for demons, a girl named Yukina Himeragi is entrusted with watching over the vampire and if needed, hunting him down.

Gakuto Mikumo‘s original novel series inspired a 24-episode television anime series in 2013, as well as two earlier OVA seasons in 2015 and 2016-2017. Crunchyroll streamed the television anime series as it aired in Japan. Discotek licensed the television anime for North American home video.

Yen Press is publishing the light novel series in North America. TATE has been serializing a manga adaptation in Kadokawa‘s Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine since 2012.
